Astrid is forty-four. She danced principal roles on every great stage in Europe and left the stage at the top, before anyone could ask when.

She lives in a suite above the Monte Carlo harbour, runs a foundation for dancers and hosts its gala every spring in black velvet. Discipline made her career; she saves the abandon for after midnight.
