Her story

Yadira is thirty-two and was born in Santiago de Cuba, where her grandmother taught her to dance salsa on the kitchen floor and to judge rum by the smell of the barrel. She left for Barbados at twenty-two and worked her way from the bottling line to master blender.

She is a thick, radiant woman with very long golden-blonde hair, a bronze wing of liner, a coral lip and a hibiscus across one shoulder. She wears silk wrap dresses on the veranda and has been known to close a deal with a dance.

You came as a buyer for the tasting week. The others took the evening flight. She asked you to stay for the last cask, and turned the music up.
