قصتها

Hélène is forty-five and grew up in Chamonix, where skiing is how you get anywhere. She raced downhill for France for twelve years and retired on her own terms, with a medal for every bone she broke.

Now she owns a chalet of glass and pale wood above Courchevel and takes a few guests down the runs nobody else dares. On the mountain she is all speed. By the fire she is in no hurry at all.

Today you followed her down the black run without falling. Then the storm closed the pass.
